How To Use a Menstrual Disc Correctly

1. Prepare

Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Wash with soap and warm water, and rinse or – even better – sterilise your disc before inserting.

2. Fold

Pinch the disc into a narrow shape. In this way, your disc will be no larger than a tampon. This makes insertion easier.

3. Position

Find a comfortable position and relax. Sit, squat or stand with one leg raised. You can also use some lube, if that’s too painful.

4. Insert

Gently insert the disc at a downward angle. Aim towards your tailbone, not straight up.

5. Tuck

Slide the disc as far back as comfortable. Tuck the front rim behind your pubic bone. This helps keep the disc securely in place. When positioned correctly, you shouldn’t feel it. You can wear it for up to 8–12 hours, depending on your flow and the brand. And yes, you can wear it during workouts, at work, and even during… sex!

6. Remove

Hook a finger under the rim and gently pull out. Keep it level to prevent spills. We recommend doing it in the shower the first few times.

7. Clean & Store

Empty contents and rinse with water. Then wash before re-inserting. Sterilise at the end of your cycle and store in a clean pouch. Always follow your product’s care instructions.

Important Note

Practising good menstrual hygiene is essential when using any menstrual disc. Always wash your hands thoroughly before insertion and removal, and ensure your disc is cleaned or sterilised according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Wearing a disc for longer than recommended or using it without proper hygiene may increase the risk of infection, including Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). If you experience symptoms such as sudden fever, dizziness, vomiting, or rash, remove the disc immediately and seek medical advice.
